Hello friends and loved ones!
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to share with you what God has been doing in my life this past year.
God has been working in amazing ways despite some difficult circumstances. As a startup CFO, we struggled for several years to secure the customers and funding we needed to become a successful company. Recently, the Lord provided me with a new opportunity to return to investment banking. I now serve as a Managing Director at a middle-market investment bank based in Houston, in addition to my ongoing role as CFO of my startup. The work is both challenging and interesting, given the breadth of deals I am now able to see and work on. Yet through it all, God has shown me that my work — as much as I may enjoy it and strive to do well — is ultimately meaningless without Him. He is teaching me to depend on Him alone, not on my own abilities or knowledge. After many years of claiming to be a Christian while still relying on myself, I am finally learning that everything I have is by God’s grace and I am a steward of all God has entrusted to me.
Over the past year, God has been expanding my desire to work for His Kingdom by supporting our church’s partnership with Wycliffe Bible Translators in Indonesia. Indonesia is a vast nation of over 285 million people spread across thousands of islands, jungles, and remote landscapes. My startup company had been working to bring satellite and broadband connectivity to these hard-to-reach areas. Now, God has opened the door for me to go there in person this summer — we are going to the island of Kalimantan, which I had never visited before (only Jakarta and Bali). I hope to return with greater insight into the daily lives of the people there and how God, through the work of Jesus Christ, can change their lives as He has done in my own.
My church, Harvest Church, partners with the Wycliffe team in many ways — through prayer, financial giving, encouragement, and short-term missions trips. This summer, I will be going to Indonesia from August 9–20 to serve alongside the Jagoi Language Team and long-term workers. We will support Bible translation efforts, reach out to local people, share the Gospel, and plant seeds of faith. Our short time there is meant to encourage and refresh the missionaries who serve year-round. We pray it will demonstrate God’s love through our actions, speech, and care.
I am writing to you because you are important to me — whether as family, a coworker, or a friend from church or life. You have played a meaningful role in my life, and I would be honored if you would consider partnering with me on this trip.
Would you pray for me and our team? And as God leads you, would you also consider a financial gift to help cover vaccinations, airfare, and in-country expenses? Every gift, big or small, makes a difference. As the Apostle Paul wrote, “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver” (2 Corinthians 9:7).
